Welcome to the online home of St Matthew’s Community Centre, Hartlepool. St Matthew’s has been at the heart of the Elwick Road area Community for over 100 years. Originally a church, it was converted into a Hall in 1945 and since then has gone from strength to strength with the building of a second hall in the 1960’s and the conversion of a derelict area in 2010 to create 3 meeting rooms with ICT facilities, an office and kitchen. With over 20 different activities available each week, and successful community events run throughout the year, we are proud to now call ourself a Community Centre.
At St Matthew’s, we pride ourselves in a common effort to be able to provide low-cost activities to a number of people who would otherwise be unable to access them. We are a not for profit organisation and we raise money through fundraising activities and hiring out spaces in our centre for functions and events.
